Before
I began my own brand 3.5 years ago as Drop Dead & Dye, producing hand dyed clothes with retro patches- mostly so I could dress my boy in cool style & original character clothing!!
Brooklyn absolutely loved choosing patches, colours to tie dye and organising & playing with the shoe charms! He would accompany me to all the events that I traded at, and soon become known as the ‘suitcase kid’ as he would nap in the cases I used to transport stock in! He was my most perfect little apprentice!
During
When Brooklyn was 4 and in his first week of starting big school, he was becoming very clumsy, tired and unsettled which was really unlike him as he was the most happiest boy in the world.
His school teachers suggested concerns that he may have Dyspraxia, and after researching the symptoms I agreed and made him a doctors appointment in the first week of October.
After advice from the GP I took Brooklyn straight to A&E where, eventually, they agreed for him to have a CT scan, an hour later, alone in a hospital room with Brook, I was told he had a large brain tumour.
We were blue lighted to Kings College hospital and the next day Brook had an op to fit a shunt to drain the fluid causing pressure on his brain and take a biopsy.
2 days later Brooklyn was diagnosed with a rare Brain Stem tumour that was fatal, I was told he would have up to 2 years at best.
Brooklyn received radiotherapy at The Royal Marsden hospital where we were inpatients for 6 weeks.
Brooklyn made it home, although extremely unwell at this point, for Christmas.
On 28th December Brooklyn was admitted to hospital, and fell into his forever sleep on 5th January 2024.
BB is rebranded with Brooklyn’s initials and his angel wings as our logo.
Now
I reopened with our new brand name in honour of my forever loved and missed superhero baby boy Brooklyn, BB is his initials with his angel wings.
Although I’m broken Brooklyn won’t be the face of my shop anymore he will always be the soul, this is for you my best boy.
